Sir Knights of the Fourth Degree, deem it an honor and privilege to carry our TRIAD EMBLEM, which features The Dove, The Cross, and The Globe. Our Honored Order cherishes as its Patron, Christopher Columbus.

Spiritually, the sacred symbols fashioned on our sword and lapel pin, typify the union of the Three Divine Persons in one Godhead The Most Holy Trinity.

  • The Globe God the Father, Creator of the Universe.
  • The Cross God the Son, Redeemer of Mankind.
  • The Dove God the Holy Spirit, Sanctifier of Humanity.

National Veterans Wheelchair Games

Philadelphia VA is the host site for the 34th National Veterans Wheelchair Games: Where Heroes Make History.  The Games are co-presented by the Department of Veterans Affairs and Paralyzed Veterans of America.  To date, we have reached out to over 400 local and national organizations, many of whom have already agreed to support the Games in a variety of ways including in-kind donations and financial sponsorships. But as you can imagine, an event of this size will need to rely on volunteers who serve as the backbone to make this event successful for over 600 athletes coming from across the nation, Puerto Rico, and Great Britain.

There are still many opportunities for you to become involved as the Games are being held in Philadelphia, August 2014 either through volunteering, donating, or both!

With close to 1 million Veterans calling Pennsylvania home and an estimated $4 million flowing into Philadelphia for the Games, this is a unique experience to get involved and show your Philly pride.

Why get involved?

  • Support of the games, whether through time or donations, promotes you as a leader engaged and committed on the front lines of one of the most pressing issues affecting our nation today - Veteran reintegration and rehabilitation
  • Your support of the Games will have a direct, positive impact on the Philadelphia area
  • Most importantly, supporting the Games will help Veterans challenge themselves to celebrate their abilities as they participate in a week of competition, camaraderie and courage

Attached are a variety of materials highlighting the Games as well as information on how to volunteer.  If you have any questions about volunteering, feel free to contact Voluntary Service, via e-mail at NVWGPhillyVolunteer@va.gov or via telephone 215-823-7800.

(Here are) three links featuring a variety of information on the Games. The last link, of particular interest, is the inspirational video featuring last year’s Games in Tampa, Florida.

The volunteer application lists the exact dates and times for the sporting events.  A 2-page volunteer application will need to be completed if you are interested in volunteering. These forms can be returned in various ways: 1) Email to NVWGPhillyVolunteer@va.gov; 2) Fax: (215) 823-4452; or mail to Voluntary Service, Philadelphia VA Medical Center, 3900 Woodland Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19104.

We look forward to speaking to you more about volunteer opportunities for the 34th National Veterans Wheelchair Games: Where Heroes Make History.  If you have any questions about the games, please contact call (215) 823-7800/e-mail NVWGPhillyVolunteer@va.gov.
